South Bristol Toy Library Statement – March 2019

Thank you for supporting South Bristol Toy Library.
The library is a charity and is run entirely by volunteers with occasional help from freelancers. We have around 20 volunteers who help us run sessions and 8 people on our management committee. We have been running the library since March 2016 and have had around 130 members.
The aim of the library has always been to create affordable play opportunities for all children and their parents in South Bristol. Now we have been running for three years and need to reassess our future as the library is currently running at a financial loss – we often don’t make enough money at each session to cover the cost of the hall hire and other operating expenses such as insurance and internet.
In order to try to make the library sustainable we are taking the following action:
      1. Charging non members £1 per child to come and play at sessions
      1. In talks with other local organisations about potential partnerships to keep the toy library from closing.
    1. From 1 June we will be stopping Tuesday sessions and will only run on alternate Saturdays for the foreseeable future.

Membership of the toy library includes free play sessions, free access to arts and crafts sessions, and refreshments.

Stripe payments must now be a minimum of £5

We would like to say a big thank you to all our members and volunteers who have supported us so far. If you have questions please get in touch at hello@southbristoltoylibrary.co.uk

Come along to one of our sessions to find out more.  From our base at URC Hall, West Street/Stanley Street South in Bedminster, our amazing volunteers run toy library sessions on fortnightly Saturday and Tuesday mornings. These friendly sessions are where members borrow and return items, play with and try out different toys and meet with friends old and new.

Upcoming dates:

Tuesdays 10am-12pm: 14th & 28th May (the final Tuesday)

Saturdays 10.30am-12pm: 18th May, 1st, 15th & 29th June, 13th & 27th July
